How we check
Every figure on a page names its source and the date we read it. What we could not check is left out. We have not travelled any route for these pages, so there are no field notes.

Weather
The figures are station averages from QCVN 02:2022/BXD, the national technical regulation on natural-condition data, issued by the Ministry of Construction: tables A.3 (daily highs), A.25 (rain), A.28 (rainy days), A.31 (drizzle days) and A.32 (fog days). We read them from the published PDF on 3 Nov 2026.
Where we give no month advice. For Hue, Hoi An, Da Nang, Phong Nha, Sa Pa, Ha Giang, Con Dao and Ho Chi Minh City we print the station figures and no month advice, because we have not been able to show that the regulation's station averages describe the place well enough to choose a month by them. A line that reads "Station figures, not month advice" means this. Ho Chi Minh City has no row in the regulation's rain table.
The words on the pages are ours: dry under 75 mm of rain, some rain 75 to 149, wet 150 to 299, very wet 300 or more; cool under 22 °C, mild 22 to 27, warm 28 to 31, hot 32 or more.
Trains
For trains we give a train name, a rough journey time and a rounded "from about" fare, read from the railway's own lookup on the date shown, and we link to the lookup for the time and fare on your day. We do not copy its tables. The picks ("the train we'd take") are our opinion.
Limits
- Period
QCVN does not state the observation period of its averages, so we state none.
- Rainy day
QCVN publishes rainy-day counts but does not define a rainy day, so we quote no threshold.
- Copyright
QCVN 02:2022/BXD is a technical regulation issued with Circular 02/2022/TT-BXD of the Ministry of Construction. Under the Intellectual Property Law (Art. 15), legal documents and data are not protected by copyright, so we reuse its station figures, with the table numbers cited. That is our reading of the law, not legal advice, and we will remove the figures if asked.
- The railway lookup
The robots.txt file of the lookup host has no Disallow rule. The operator's website terms (dsvn.vn) limit use to personal, non-commercial purposes and require the railway's consent to republish its content on other websites. We read the lookup with a script, one request a second, with no login and no booking. Until the railway has been asked, we publish only facts from it, rounded (a train name, a rough duration, a "from about" fare), and link to the lookup.
